Elevate your lifestyle with a home in an exclusive mountain village, surround by spectacular scenery, in a secure eco-estate.
Spanning over a thousand hectares, Cathkin Estates is the largest privately owned wilderness area in the Central Drakensberg. It is home to many indigenous species of fauna and flora, most notably the endangered Oribi antelope and herds of eland, blesbok, zebra and wildebeest.
The Estate is nestled up against the Okhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. Explore the vast reserve on foot or a mountain bike and share those special moments with your loved ones, whether it’s swimming in a clear mountain stream, casting a line in pursuit of that elusive trout or tackling some challenging single track.
The estate offers varied outdoor persuits including fishing, hiking trails, game viewing and mountain biking.
In accordance with architectural guidelines, dwellings nestle unobtrusively into the landscape with low slung, horizontal forms echoing the surrounding rocky outcrops.
The villages are positioned in the northern reaches of the estate, carefully planned to preserve the surrounding natural beauty. This strategic location allows homes to enjoy breathtaking, unobstructed views of the berg while being conveniently close to the valley’s diverse attractions, outdoor activities, and essential amenities. The design ensures residents can experience both tranquility and accessibility, offering a perfect blend of serene surroundings and the ease of proximity to key services and recreational opportunities. The overall layout harmoniously integrates nature with modern living, making it an ideal setting for a balanced lifestyle.
Cathkin Estates has a multilayered approach in securing the Estate. An 18 km electric, alarmed and zoned fence surrounds the 1000ha reserve and Estate. Cameras placed in strategic positions and 24/7 Patrol Guards. Tracking dogs are also utilised and Drones if need be. Security upgrades and improvements are ongoing. The Access system utilises cards, Bluetooth android devices and or pin numbers. Visitors are scheduled using an app-based system.
